Ed Snider

A memorial for Ed Snider.

Edward Malcolm ‘Ed’ Snider, born in Washington D.C in 1933, was a businessman and founder of NHL franchise the Philadelphia Flyers.

Snider was the chairman of Comcast Spectacor, a sports-based entertainment network and former owner of NBA team the Philadelphia 76’ers.

Beloved by the city of Philadelphia, the Flyers under Snider’s ownership won back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in the 1970’s. Snider was also a big supporter of youth hockey and in 2005 created the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation to provide inner-city children in Philadelphia with a means to learn and play ice hockey.

Snider passed away on April 11th 2016, due to bladder cancer, and is survived by his wife Lin, his children Jay, Craig, Lindy, Tina, Sarena, Samuel and numerous grandchildren.
