My father used to joke that the next man who came around he would tell them that they were No 76.\n\nI met my only husband John due to the fact that my sister Joan was engaged to be married to his half brother Harry, and visited their house. Joan was initially introduced to the Rhodes family as she worked with John's sister at the local fish factory.\n\nInitially I did not really like John however he kept coming round to my home and eventually I started dating him. I realised I loved him when waving him off on the train when he was going back to Coniston during his national service.\n\nI married on 3rd April 1961 at St Hughs Church Grimsby, having three children Susan on 1st October 1961, I always joked that she was premature. Then David on 29th November 1962 and finally Carol on 13th November 1965. \n\nI lived firstly with John in his family home in Hawthorne Avenue, New Waltham before moving to 160 Legsby Avenue where I started my family. \n\nThe family later moving to Lincoln in 1963 because John joined the Prison Service living at 166 Birchwood Avenue and 50 Chaucer Drive, which was close enough to be able to walk into the City Centre. \n\nI used to enjoy friendship with best friends Steve and Joyce Newman, often going to Clumber Park near Nottingham during the summer. with our families.\n\nIn 1967 I moved to Rochdale after John was transferred to the local prison there, and lived at 30 Buckley Farm Lane close to the prison. Later moved to 9 Foxholes Close in an old prefabricated house. \n\nJohn was later transferred to Ashford Remand Centre, so the family moved to a small village called Stanwell in 1970 which was close to Heathrow Airport. We lived first at 9 Gibson Place which overlooked one of the runways, but then moved to 4 Jordans Close. \n\nWe finally finally moved to the Isle of Wight in 1976 living at 4 Bromilow Cottages which overlooked the exercise yard at Parkhurst prison and finally 15 Priory Road on 1st April 1977 where we bought our first house for £12,750.\n\nI spent those 20 years raising my family and looking after the family home. As my children got older I started to look for an outside interest and volunteered to help out with the 2nd Stanwell Brownie Pack and enjoyed it so much I decided to become a Guider. I became an Assistant Guider in May 1974, becoming Guide Captain with the 2nd Stanwell Guide Company later that year. Something I continued on the Isle of Wight becoming the Guide Captain at the 1st Wootton Bridge Guides and then later the 10th Newport (congregational) Guides where I stayed until the end of 1983."}},{"id":2,"type":"photo_from_gallery","position":1,"block_data":{"photo_id":433,"photo_url":"https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/echoleft-production/images/7bdf1a1b79424768bcf44bb9bf6ced00f4405dc8/original.png?1542452020"}}]
